Classic 1978 Sea Ray SRV 197 bowrider in good overall condition with a solid fiberglass hull. This is a timeless boat powered by the marine 302 V8 (the same engine family that powered muscle cars back in the day). With a little TLC it will be a head-turning, fun day-on-the-water ride that planes nicely with the trim tabs. Selling as-is because I own a business and simply haven’t had time to finish the last few projects before spring.
The Good:
Recent bellows and lower-unit water pump replaced a few years ago
Engine water pump removed, inspected, and confirmed good
Routine maintenance always kept up: oil changes, spark plugs, distributor cap, new starter, steering cable replaced
Middle seats are brand new; main interior in solid shape
Trailer has two brand-new tires (spare is blown)
Comes with full cloth cover and Bimini top
Needs a few small projects to be 100% ready:
Overheated briefly on last water test (likely needs lower-unit pump re-bleed or minor cooling system tweak — not enough to cause damage)
Small hairline crack on exhaust water jacket (welded and planed previously; drips slightly but is more of an annoyance than a real issue)
Lower-unit hydraulics have a slight leak (add oil a couple times per season or replace seal)
Wiring harness melted slightly from heat near exhaust (superficial — wires inside are fine; just needs to be sealed and shifter mechanism adjusted)
Back seats and a couple bow pads could use replacing
One small soft spot next to the storage bay floor
If you’re mechanically inclined and know your way around older I/Os (pre-alpha lower unit, water pumps, etc.), this is a great value. Most shops won’t touch these classics, but a handy owner can have it ready for a great season. I would keep it if I had the time!
